๐ณ๐ฌ The Girl Child Is Not the Future โ She Is the Now
Official Address from the Office of Dr. Princess Oghene
In celebration of International Day of the Girl Child
A Girl Child at the Centre: Honouring Her Present
Every girl alive today carries the seeds of transformation. She is not waiting for her moment โ sheโs creating it. In many homes, schools, and communities across Nigeria and Africa, we see girls teaching themselves, innovating in quiet corners, challenging the limits placed on them. They are our present โ the living testament that progress is not a distant dream but a daily act of courage.
โWe honour every girl who wakes up uncertain but tries anyway; every girl whose name might not make headlines, but whose actions build better schools, safer streets, and brighter futures.โ

From Empowerment to Africa Reimagined
Empowering the girl child is not an adjunct policy โ it is central to reimagining Africa. Because a continent that invests in its girls invests in resilience, innovation, and sustainability. A girl who builds becomes a catalyst for infrastructure, enterprise, health, governance, and legacy.
Africa Reimagined means that we see the girl child not as a problem to fix, but as a co-architect of the future. Her dreams, when unleashed, become blueprints for industries, models of equitable societies, and pathways to pan-African solidarity.

Linking Our Goals: SDG 8, SDG 9 & SDG 17
SDG 8 โ Decent Work & Economic Growth: When girls learn, train, and are equipped with skills (especially in STEM, digital, and entrepreneurship), they become active drivers of economies.
SDG 9 โ Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure: Girls as innovators and future engineers ensure that Africaโs development reflects creative potential.
SDG 17 โ Partnerships for the Goals: Governments, private sectors, and institutions must unite to open access for girls to networks, platforms, and influence.

The Power of Visionary Voices
On Friday, 12th December 2025, at Eko Hotels & Suites, Lagos, we will convene the GAH Girl-Child Summit & Awards. Esteemed leaders will gather to champion empowerment, innovation, and inclusivity for Africaโs girls. This will not just be an awards event โ it will be a catalyst for mentorship, commitments, and innovation labs shaping the next generation.

Call to Action on International Girl Child Day
Across cities from Lagos to Nairobi, Accra to Addis โ we call on governments, corporations, and communities to commit resources, infrastructure, and mentorship for girls in Africa. The GAH Promise for Girls will unite partners in pledging tangible support for education, innovation, and leadership.

Closing Words
The girl child is not tomorrowโs asset โ she is todayโs responsibility, and Africaโs present strength. When we invest in her education, voice, agency, and innovation โ we build not only inclusive nations, but interdependent, resilient, future-fit Africa.
Join us in reimagining Africa through the eyes and power of our girls. Be Seen. Be Celebrated. Be Strategic.
